CAMRA Branch Pub of the year 2007 |
The Crown Inn is a family run Free House and Restaurant, the original buildings date from the 12th century, but it was not licensed as an inn until the 16th century. It is set in the picturesque country village of Finglesham in East Kent.
An integral part of village life for many centuries, our friendly pub continues to be the heart of the community and is popular with locals and visitors alike, who come to enjoy our fine range of real ales and delicious home-cooked food. With comfortable en suite accommodation available next door at Orchard Lodge, The Crown provides the perfect place to relax and unwind with a fine meal and bottle of wine. Our range of fine real ales always includes at least one regularly changing guest beer, and is complimented by a choice of wines available by the glass or bottle. We also stock a good choice of bottled beers as well as a large selection of lagers, ciders, spirits and liqueurs. We offer home-cooked bar snacks, lunches and evening meals, seven days a week. Served in the restaurant, bar or our pretty garden, the broad menu ranges from a bowl of home-made soup through to a juicy fillet steak cooked to your liking. Our popular Sunday lunches include traditional roast meats with all the trimmings, and we also cater well for vegetarians and children. There are many interesting things to see and do in the local area, and The Crown is the home of Finglesham's two Bat & Trap teams, an enthusiastic cribbage society, and other traditional pub games such as cards, dominos and Scrabble. You will often see a few locals puzzling over a cryptic crossword, while the garden provides a safe environment in which children can play on our range of equipment. A certified Caravan Club location, the pub's large field provides ample space in which to set up camp. The Crown is an ideal wedding venue and has recently been granted a license by Kent County Council to hold Civil Wedding Ceremonies - please visit our Wedding page for more information.
